Aboard the Celebrity Infinity

by Diana Miller on December 29, 2009
During June of this year, I had the privilege to sail on the fabulously appointed Infinity, one a Celebrity Cruises' finest ships and a member of their Millennium Class fleet. Known for being resplendent with glass and teak accents and sophisticated amenities, the Infinity is one of Celebrity's most traveled ships! Not to mention, they've upgraded the engine to environmentally responsible gas turbines to make sure that the waters and habitats remain as pristine as they were before you sailed through.

Dressed in polished marble and warm woods, the Infinity placed me in the lap of luxury as I sailed through the icy blue waters of Alaska. Embarkation in Seattle went off without a hitch; in fact, the infamous "parking" was even easy, which is unusual for Seattle-pier areas. Determining where my room was located was just as easy. Located on the Concierge Level, my room was beautifully appointed with soft linens, warm lighting, and a spacious balcony - the balcony makes glacier viewing amazing and it's the only way I would recommend traversing Alaska's waters. Because it was the Concierge Level, I received many extras that you wouldn't get normally, like an exclusive invitation to the Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party. Upon entering my room, I discovered a wonderful Welcome Aboard basket that contained champagne and flowers. Little did I know, appetizers and fresh fruit were delivered daily! I truly felt like a queen.

The impeccable service coupled with outstanding spa experience made for a wonderful voyage. Each Millennium Class ship has a Thalasso spa area - adults only of course! These spas transport you to a whole new world, inspired by rituals from exotic and far off places and cultures. In addition, the Infinity has health-oriented eating options. Named The AquaSpa Café and located next to the spa, you can choose from many freshly prepared organic meals for lunch or dinner.

The entertainment was far better than most ships I have been on. One night I was swinging to jazz while the next I was performing the tango. If cutting a rug doesn't do much for you, relax. There are plenty of other options aboard the Infinity. Take the tour of The Conservatory; a garden perched high above the sea below. This flourishing, expansive flora and fauna collection features floral designs by Emilio Robba. Or take a guided audio tour of the ship's art, artifacts and collections.

No matter where I explored onboard, no matter what activities I did onboard and no matter what I ate onboard, I was surrounded by elegance. If Celebrity knows one thing, it would be ensuring an unforgettable cruise experience. From the seamless transitions on and off the ship to the world-class spa, to the precise detail of the décor, Celebrity had thought of everything. If you are looking to experience the Infinity for yourself, please don't hesitate!
