AAAHH! Costa Rica!

Costa Rica may be a small country wedged between two continents, but few locales in the world are bigger on nature and adventure. Flanked by miles of beaches on the Pacific and the Caribbean, Costa Rica’s interior is a lush tangle of rain forest, mist-veiled mountains, active volcanoes and habitat for some of the greatest biodiversity on earth. Within the layers of green upon green, thousands of species thrive: gigantic ferns, magenta orchids, neon-bright parrots, three-toed sloths, monkeys, peccaries, crocodiles, iguanas and frogs, just for starters. In the humid color of the tropical jungle, our senses are never so engaged.
Oh yes, I almost forgot I was Costa Rica in May of this year in the Guanacaste area this region of Costa Rica is know for it's aired dry season, but it to gets an astounding amount of rain during the rainy season. May is the beginning of the rainy season however when I was there it sprinkled for about 20 minutes. I stayed the first night at the Marriott Courtyard very close to the Liberia Airport, which I would recommend highly if you are arriving on a late flight. The hotel is very new and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The next day I took a cab ride ( about $50.00 usd one way) to the Hilton Papagayo Resort and Spa. The Hilton Papagayo Resort as of May 1, 2010 is now an all inclusive resort and is set in a very beautiful location overlooking the bay. The accommodations are scattered up and down the hill side and this requires that you hitch a ride on one of the many resort motorized shuttles. Hop on and give them your room number and away you go. Then if you need to get to the pool or spa, shops, dining etc. you just pick up the phone and let them know you are ready to be picked up at your room and in no time there they are. You can also walk, but when I was there it was like 95+ degrees and after our cold spring the blood just had not thinned out enough to be hiking around. The resort has two pools, one located near the dining areas, shops, and the second is located up the hill at the Spa. The hotel has a nice beach area as well. Your dining choices pretty much consist of a breakfast buffet and a lunch buffet and of course a dinner buffet. There is a small poolside restaurant which serves lunch. There are a copius amount of wildlife as well on the resort. From a large variety of birds to Howler Monkeys, Costa Rican racoons, iguanas. The Resort offers an array of activities for their guests to participate in from Spanish lessons, pool volleyball, nature hikes, non-motorized water equipment (kayak, snokeling), water polo, beach soccer, Eco-walks, biking. There is even a kids program with daily nonstop activities that they can participate in.
