New York New York

by Dot Smay on July 26, 2011
I recently visited New York City for the first time and was so excited to see the sights I had always heard of or seen in pictures. The Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, Time Square and much much more.  The people in New York I found to be very pleasant even though they seem to always be moving in high gear.

We visited Ground Zero and talked to the firemen at Station 10.  They showed us the remaining parts of the fire engine that was the first to arrive on the scene. My heart was so overwhelmed by the sight of that small piece of metal.  We took a tour with one of the ladies who volunteered for days after the attack.  Amazing events of true human spirit came from such devastation. This September marks the 10th anniversary of the most awful date in New York's history and I hope that everyone remembers and sends a small prayer up for the family members, firemen and police who serve this country bravely.
