 Portland
-"the City of Roses". Portland is the largest city in Oregon with
a population of 1,600,000 people in the metropolitan area. More
than 200 parks form the townscape and create a relaxing environment.
The city offers a great variety of attractions, such as the Japanese
Garden, Oregon Zoo, International Rose Test Garden, Pioneer Square
and many more. Portland is a lively city with an outstanding public
transportation system that makes it easy to visit.
 Only
a 90-minute drive from downtown Portland stands Mt. Hood, the tallest
of Oregon's Cascade peaks. Year-round skiing and snowboarding make
Mt. Hood a close winter sports excursion area.

The Columbia River Gorge is an impressive river canyon cutting through
the Cascade Mountain Range. The North canyon walls are in Washington
State and the South canyon walls are in Oregon. The combination
of Mt. Hood and the Columbia River Gorge make a wonderful day trip.
