As you may be aware, many airlines have begun adopting fees for coach passengers to check baggage. As time goes on, more carriers are expected to follow suit in an effort to offset the rising cost of fuel.
In many cases, exceptions are made for passengers who have achieved a certain status in the airline's frequent flier program. Policies vary from airline to airline, so travelers are advised to check with their Azumano agent or individual airline(s) to obtain specifics. **Effective August 1, 2008, the weight exceptions on economy free baggage allowance for travel to/from China, Hong Kong, Philippines and between Japan and Brazil will no longer be in effect. The new allowance will be changed to 2 pieces of luggage at 50lbs/23kgs and 62in/158cm per piece. Additionally, baggage weighing 50-70lbs for travel to/from China, Hong Kong, Philippines and between Japan and Brazil will be assessed a heavy bag fee of 50.00USD/50.00CAD.
